If the equation (1+m2 )x2 + 2mcx + (c2 - a2 ) 0 has equal roots, prove that c 2 = a 2 (1 + m 2 ) .

hey dev here is your answer
if roots are equal the let us say roots be alpha anld beta then
alpha+beta= -b/a(-2mc/1=m^2)
2*alpha= (-2mc/1+m^2)
alpha= (-mc/1+m^2)
alpha*beta=(c^2-a^2/1+m^2)
alpha^2=(c^2-a^2/1+m^2)
then
m^2c^2/(1+m^2)^2=c^2-a^2/1+m^2
m^2c^2/1+m^2=c^2-a^2
by solving this we get
c^2=a^2(1+m^2)
